EIC Accelerator specialists

EIC Accelerator proposal specialists for UK deep tech

Grant funding of up to €2.5m, plus optional equity investment, for companies with a genuine breakthrough. Success rates are brutal, so we assess the case before drafting and write the proposal with engineers and scientists rather than generalists.

The three stages, and where applications fail

Step 1: short application

A short written pitch, a slide deck and a video pitch, assessed remotely. Most companies underestimate this stage because it is short, but it is where the breakthrough claim and the market logic have to land in very few words.

Step 2: full proposal

The full business plan: the innovation and its technology readiness, the market and go to market, the team, the financials and the funding request. This is where a technical writer who understands the science is worth the most.

Step 3: jury interview

A face to face pitch and question session with a jury of investors and entrepreneurs. We prepare the pitch, run rehearsals and drill the hostile questions the jury is likely to ask.

The most common failure is a proposal that describes an excellent product rather than a breakthrough with market scale and evidenced technology readiness. The second is a team that writes well and then cannot defend the claim in front of the jury.

Why companies bring us in

Written by technical specialists

EIC juries include deep tech investors and sector experts. A proposal written by a generalist reads as a product brochure. Ours are written by engineers and scientists who can defend the technical claim.

Evaluation before drafting

The EIC is highly competitive and the resubmission rules are unforgiving. We assess breakthrough potential, market scale and readiness before you commit, and we say no when the case is not there.

Interview preparation included

Strong written proposals fail at interview when the team cannot handle the jury's questions. We rehearse the pitch and the defence, not just the document.

Under 12 hours of your time

We take the drafting burden off your founders and technical leads, using their time for technical interviews, evidence and approvals rather than writing.

Results we can evidence

Above 90% of our engagements result in funding, and above 80% of the individual applications we write are successful. Both figures cover projects we accept after screening, not every enquiry we receive. On European funding specifically, clients have told us the value came from reframing the innovation so the evaluators understood it, rather than from polishing what they had already written.

Common questions

Can UK companies apply to the EIC Accelerator?

Yes. The UK is associated to Horizon Europe, so UK based companies can apply to the EIC Accelerator. Check the current call conditions for how the grant and any equity component apply to UK applicants, because the investment side has had different arrangements from the grant side.

How much funding does the EIC Accelerator provide?

Grant funding of up to €2.5 million for innovation activities, with optional blended finance in the form of equity investment for scale up. EIC Pathfinder, for earlier stage research, funds up to around €4 million.

What is the EIC Accelerator success rate?

Success rates are low, typically a small single digit percentage of companies that reach the full proposal stage. That is precisely why we evaluate the project before drafting rather than after.

How long does an EIC Accelerator application take?

Plan for several months across the short application, the full proposal and the interview. The full proposal alone is a substantial business plan, and interview preparation needs weeks rather than days.

What does the EIC mean by breakthrough innovation?

The EIC funds high risk, high impact innovation that could create or reshape a market, not incremental product improvement. The proposal has to evidence the technology readiness reached so far, the scientific or technical basis for the breakthrough claim, and the scale of the market it would open.

Do you help with Horizon Europe consortium bids too?

Yes. We support Pillar II collaborative projects and Eurostars alongside the EIC, including consortium building, work package design and the coordination of partner contributions.

What does EIC Accelerator proposal support cost?

Upfront fees start from £1,750 and we quote per project after the evaluation stage, with a success fee on award. The service suits companies with a genuine deep tech breakthrough and the resources to run an EIC scale project.

For the wider programme, see our Horizon Europe page and the EU funding guide. For domestic funding, our Innovate UK grant writers cover the UK competitions.
